I did a post a couple weeks ago about the wonder that is Bread Machines! I have had a couple people tell me that they have a bread machine but don't know how to use it. I thought I would post a few of my favorite recipes here!
If you don't typically keep things on hand such as yeast and flour you can always buy the packets at the grocery store for bread machines. They come pre measured with all the dry ingredients included. You simply add your water and egg, or whatever wet ingredients the recipe calls for. These are convenient if you are an on the go kinda gal!
But for us Suzie Homemakers there are simple easy to follow recipes that use ingredients that I try to keep on hand anyways.
It is very important to remember to always add the ingredients to your bread machine in the order they are listed.
Basic White Bread
5/8 cup water
1 tablespoon skim milk powder
2 1/2 tablespoons shortening
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 2/3 cup white flour
t teaspoon yeast
Use the regular bread setting on your machine for a small loaf.
Potato Bread
1 cup water
1 tablespoon skim milk powder
1 tablespoon shortening
1 tablespoon sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup dry potato flakes
2 1/2 cups white flour
1 1/2 teaspoons yeast
Use regular bread setting for small loaf
Raisin Bread
1 cup water
1 tablespoon skim milk powder
2 tablespoons shortening
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons raisins
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 2/3 cups white flour
1 teaspoon yeast
You may want to add the raisins towards the end of the mixing and kneeding cycles. Most bread machines have a signal for adding fruit and nuts becuase if you add them at the beginning they get completely demolished by the mixing blades.
Use your machine's regular bread setting for a small loaf.
I hope you are able to use these to bless your family and friends!
